A suspect, 24 year old Almajiri school teacher Ma’aruf Muhammad who tortured an 8 year old child was arrested by the police in a hideout in Toro LGA, Bauchi State.
The 8 year old victim Muhammad Garba, revealed that he escaped from Nugru Yobe State where he hail from to Kano by train as a result of severe beatings by his teacher at the “Almajiri School.
Garba was found roaming around a culvert, near Kofar Mata Quarters Kano, with mark of scars all over his body resulting from torture.
The victim was rushed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital Kano, where he was treated and discharged.
The “Almajiri School” teacher, Ma’aruf Muhammad, who was also hail from Garbi Quarters, Nguru LGA, Yobe State was arrested.
The victim was first taking to the Managing Director, Kano State Agency for Evacuation and Repatriation of Beggars by a good Samaritan Mallam Usaini Uba of Kofar Na’isa Quarters, Kano.
On discreet investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime. He further revealed that he uses a USB Cable to beat the victim on several occasions after removing his shirt.
The suspect also disclosed that the child was brought to him by the female grandmother of the victim, Talle Muhammad, 65 years old.
Taller was subsequently arrested together with the father of the victim.
Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
