The plot by the opposition PDP in Zamfara to prune justifiable proceedings to impeach the state Deputy-governor, Barr. Mahadi Ali Gusau by the state House of Assembly has faced a harder brickwall today at an Abuja High Court 5, when presiding Justice Inyang Ekwo refused to grant the plea by Mahadi’s legal counsel, Chief E C Ukala (SAN) to order for the maintenance of status quo in the executive hiararchy of the state or alternatively to direct Counsel to Governor Bello Matawalle, Chief Mike Ozekhome SAN, the Chief Judge of Zamfara state and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly to give an undertaking on maintaining the status quo.
The state House of Assembly has a fortnight ago began the process to impeach the deputy governor over alleged abuse of office and mismanagement of public funds.
The PDP according to the Public Relation Officer, of the All Progressives Congress Zamfara State, Chapter Yusuf Idris has at both the state and national levels unsuccessfully applying different ways and means including intimidation, threats, violence and the courts to clip the process but to no avail.
Going by the thoughts he said they will not get the expected ruling in the state, the PDP chose the court in the federal capital to stop the legislative arm from carrying out its legitimate duty for which reason, the court denied their plea through an adjournment of the case to March 10, 2022 for definite hearing
