NUJ laments spate of kidnapping in Bauchi

 The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Bauchi State Council has lamented the spate of kidnapping in the state. This was made known in a 6 point Communique read by Elizabeth Kah at the end of the Congress Meeting of the union in Bauchi week-end.

The Union urged the state government to redouble efforts in curbing the menace of kidnapping in the state.

The state government according to the Union should brace up and treat the issue of kidnapping with all seriousness before it escalate.

It urged all security agencies to rise up to the security challenges and called on stakeholders to assist them with useful information.

The union commended the effort of the federal and state governments in curtailing security challenges facing the country.
It also appreciate the state government for pledging to reconstruct the state secretariat of the union in addition to the continuous support it rendered to journalists.
It applauds the leadership of the NUJ for establishing the ethics and disciplinary committee to checkmate abuse of the profession by some members as well as moving the union to a better level within just one year in office,

Also commended was the leadership of the union for the role it played when a member was brutalized by the members of the Rapid Response Squad of the  state Police Command.

Our correspondent reports that  the Council congress forms part of activities of the Bauchi Council 2020 Press Week.
The union also appealed to its members to always uphold professionalism in the discharge of their assignments as unruly behaviour would not be accepted.
