The immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, has expressed hope and optimism that Nigeria will soon over its security challenges.
Dogara stated this while delivering a keynote address at House of Justice Annual Summit in Kaduna on the theme: Leadership, Governance and National Security, at the weekend, urging Nigerians not to rest on their oars until the country unravels.
He said there is no nation on earth that has not been tried or tested as every one of them had experience moments of national peril.
“These security challenges, as deeply disconcerting as they are, they are not strange. There is no nation on earth that has not been tried or tested.
“Every one of them has come to moments of National peril. We can put an end to the moral vandalism that flows from all spots of bedlam across the face of the Nation.
“No season last forever, therefore this cup shall pass if we all do our bit, such as we are doing at this summit, in order to keep the promise of this great country alive,” Mr Dogara said.
According to the former, Speaker For us to leave this Nigeria, our country that we cherish and hold dear, to others to defend is not cowardice,
“it is apostasy to the Nigerian creed. For those who think Nigeria has arrived at a dead end, let us disappoint them by turning the end into a bend. We can do it!,” He reitrated.
The Former Speaker said government must continue to adopt deliberate policies that enhance rapid development of the private sector by establishing industrial clusters.
“Enhancing the agricultural value chain to put food on the table of citizens, create jobs, reduce unemployment and ensure even development.
He noted that clear and sustainable policies must be evolved to tailor development that has human face with poverty alleviation as the measure for determining policy success or failure
