Shows Wike Can Salvage Nigeria

ASIYA Umar Adam
Sole Administrator, Rivers State Waste Management Agency, RIWAMA, Felix Obuah says it is not surprising that Governor Nyesom Wike won the Sun Newspaper Man of the Year Award for the second consecutive time.
The reason for the award for deserving such place of honour according to Obuah, is not far fetched in the light of the infrastructural revolution taking place in Rivers State executed by Governor Wike which in the past years, were thought impossible.
The RIWAMA boss and Ikemba Idemili of Anambra State noted that Wike has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubts stressing that if given the opportunity to be president, he can get Nigeria moving again.
He described Gov. Wike as a visionary and pragmatic leader, adding that Gov. Wike has not only demonstrated capacity but also exhibited true understanding of democracy by confronting development and political issues head-on.
He said one of such democratic imperatives and true federalism is the issue of Value Added Tax (VAT) which Gov Wike has held the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government spell-bound, providing a morale booster for other State governors to follow suit.
Obuah recalled other anti-social issues which Gov. Wike as the man who saw tomorrow pointed out if if they are embraced by the rest of the country would have saved Nigeria the calamity and losses eventually suffered.
One of such, he said, were the excesses of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), of the Nigeria Police which notoriety forced the Nigerian youths to embark on one of the bloodiest protests in the nation’s history.
“When Gov Wike raised alarm and was shouting, little or no attention was given to his concerns. Had the authorities cared, a whole lot of losses would have been avoided, but rather than do that, his genuine concerns were politicized and trivialized until they snowballed into a national crisis.
Obuah however, finds solace in the fact that some sections of the critical media are alive to the realities on ground and still have the boldness to appreciate quality leadership and contributions of the like of Wike and consider him most qualified for honour as exemplified by the Sun Newspaper Man of the Year Award.
While ongratulating Gov Wike on the Sun Newspaper Man of the Year Award, Obuah said the honour represents the collective wish and appreciation of the people since the media are the voice of the masses.
He urged the teeming Rivers people and Nigerians generally to learn to appreciate and encourage those who show distinction in their service delivery like Wike through their support and prayers.
The prestigious Sun Newspaper Man of the Year Award will be conferred on Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Expo Convention Centre, Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
