Gov. Mohammmed task citizens on exercise, physical fitness

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has urged citizens to engage in regular exercise and physical fitness to enhance extra health and fitness.

Mohammed made the call at the 2021 Grand Road Walk organised by the Coalition of Physical Fitness clubs on Saturday in Bauchi

Represented by the Speaker, Bauchi house of assembly Alhaji Abubakar Sulaiman urged citizens in the state embark on regular exercise and physical fitness.

“Try to find the time for some regular, vigorous exercise for extra health and fitness benefits.

“Minimize the amount of time spent in prolonged sitting and break up long periods of sitting as often as possible,” he said.

The Governor pledged that the state government would to support the clubs in organising the annual grand walk in the state.

The Chairman of the Coalition of Physical Fitness Clubs in the state Alhaji Ali Garu expressed satisfaction with this year’s grand road walk, saying it was successful and the aim was achieved.

He said the grand road walk started in 2019 and then 2020, the 2021 walk was a success that attracted a lot of support and visitors from the neighboring states of Gombe and plateau

Garu explained that physical activity or exercise can improve your health and reduce the risk of developing several diseases as well as unity.

He also encourages citizens not to relent in engaging in physical exercise and fitness helps people with depression.

Also Speaking Alhaji Kabiru Jahun the Chairman local organising Committee said the 10 kilometers grand walk was aimed at encouraging healthy life to citizens.

“Physical fitness and exercise may block negative thoughts or distract you from daily worries.

“Exercising with others provides an opportunity for increased social contact.

“Increased fitness may lift your mood and improve your sleep patterns, may also change levels of chemicals in your brain, such as stress hormones,” he said.
