A one hundred year old woman was arrested in Kano in connection with plucking of one eye of a 12 year old Almajiri for rituals.


Kano Police Command’s Public Relations Office, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa revealed that the victim Mustapha Yunusa was lured by a 17 year old Isa Hassan to Rimin Hamza Quarters of Tarauni LGA of the State where the suspect used a sharp knife, removed the victim’s right eyeball and fled with it to an unknown destination.


The team of policemen immediately went to the scene and rushed the victim to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano after receiving the report where a Medical Doctor confirmed that the eyeball of the victim was forcefully removed by using a sharp object, admitting the victim in the  Hospital.


Sustained efforts coupled with prolonged intelligence follow-up by the police led to the arrest of the principal suspect, the 17 year old Isah Hassan of Dantsinke layin Rimin Hamza Quarters Tarauni LGA of Kano State with the help of the local Vigilante group of Sheka Quarters.


Investigation unravel the suspect who confessed that he met his friend, Sani Abdulrahman, a16 years old who led him to his aged grandmother of 100 years old, Furera Abubakar claiming that she’ll create for him a charm that will make him disappear and become invisible..
The principal suspect further confessed that he met Furera who instructed him to bring an eyeball of a human being  so that she can prepare the charm.


He went and deceived the Almajiri lured him to a nearby bush tied his hands and forcefully used a sharp knife and plucked his right eyeball.
He took the eyeball to Furera who gave him further instruction and demand from him Five Hundred Naira which he didn’t have at that moment.
Furera told him to keep the eye ball in a safer place and bring it when he get the money. He heed to her instructions for three days. He later discovered that the eyeball had decayed and threw it away. 
Furera was arrested.
